Health resort and vacation paradise Oberwolfach in the Wolf River Valley and in the middle of the Kinzig River Valley – right in the middle of the Black Forest.
If you follow the Wolf River on down from the charming town of Wolfach, an enchanting vacation landscape is revealed. The health resort town of Oberwolfach welcomes you.
The path leads first to the part of town by the church, named after the parish church St. Bartholomäus which is located there. The town square with the 200 year old linden was redesigned, along the with road through town, as part of the town’s development. The Wolfsbrunnen (Wolf Fountain), decorated with the sign of the Oberwolfach farms, is the symbolic bridge to the little Wolf River, which, a few kilometers down the valley, runs through the part of town named Walke, with the town hall and the Maria Church.
In Oberwolfach, the MiMa - Museum of Minerals and Mathematics displays the one-of-a-kind diversity of the mineral finds in the local Clara pit. The mining tradition can be experienced up close with a walk through the tunnels of the "Grube Wenzel" exhibition mine in Frohnbach.
Oberwolfach is located from 270 to 948m above sea level along the lower course of the Wolf River, a tributary of the Kinzig River.
The Hotel Hirschen is an ideal starting point for hikes and walks as wells as excursion in the whole Black Forest, for example to the National Park, which is only 20 minutes away, and to France.
The Black Forest National Park begins at the northern end of the Wolf Valley. Since 2014, a large part of the forests there have been able to grow freely. Nature has developed without intervention based on the principle ”a bit wilder”.
